Every summer, most Indian cities face severe droughts. Growing up in these conditions sensitized the founders of Solinas Integrity to the importance of water and unnecessary wastage. While they started with a vision to reduce leakages and scarcity, they soon hit upon a critical problem - drinking water contamination. In Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, the team found a lot of sewer intervention points in the drinking water supply. In response, they built Endobot - a pipeline inspection crawler for assessing the condition of pipelines and maintaining them. A remotely-operated and tethered crawler carries multiple sensors to identify defects (such as leaks, contamination, corrosion, scaling, and sludge formation) up to 500 meters inside the water or sewer pipeline. The collected data is stored in SWASTH - a cloud-based dashboard for data analysis and conditional assessment. The Endobot can effectively identify contamination points, leakage points, or any other defects that cause water waste. Recently, the team developed India's 1st 90mm robot, i.e. Endo 90 for covering even household-level pipelines. Within 6 months of deployment, the Endo 90 has located 200+ defects and 130+ contamination points in Coimbatore. This has also led to savings of 600,000 liters of water, and INR 700,000 per day, for every kilometer of pipelines inspected.
