Piped water supply networks are the most efficient, affordable, and sustainable way to supply water at a national scale. Rapidly expanding water networks across the country have led to challenges such as low pressure in the as-built network, unmet demand, and crucially, bursts, leaks, and illegal tapping. Solutions to these challenges have to be scalable, accurate, and institutionalized for the continued success of these networks in the future. With experience in working with municipalities and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by cities and towns in India, the founders launched Smartterra, an AI-powered analytics platform to help water utilities process their collected data toward the field-outcomes of reduced real/physical and apparent/commercial losses. SmartTerra’s platform will help utilities transition to 24/7 service in a data-driven manner. They are already present in 5 states, with their solution helping to save over 5 million liters of water per month.
